Extension and extensive renovation works to the 19th Century, Grade B listed St Anne’s Church in Dungannon. The works comprised of the reconfiguration of the existing building – bowling hall, sports hall, bowling store, male/female accessible toilets, training rooms, entrance hall and main foyer. It also comprised of the extension to the rear to accommodate a new passenger lift, offices, toilets, and additional storage space. All works were carried out within an existing building. The building is now fully accessible with a new modern ramp and path constructed to the back of the Church. The main challenge in this project was to combine the traditional character of the Church whilst creating a modern, functional and welcoming building.
St Anne’s Church is a registered Charity and as such, consultations had to be carried out with a number of different stakeholders. To carry out this project successfully, we had to carry out consultations with representatives from the Church of Ireland, members of the congregation, the Community Group within the Church and the Board of Trustees at various stages of the project. Consultations were also carried out with the Church’s insurance and warranty providers, the emergency services and the local licencing / planning department.
